Hi All,
Just a general question as to values of Z3's.
I know the M cars are alway valued the most followed by 2.8's but where do the other engine models sit?
Also as Z3's are scrapped on a regular basis will values rise across the board?
Just curious!

All prices seem to be on a bit of a slide at the moment although as a convertible prices have season variations, unless very special low mileage etc cars are being stripped because that's where the value lies.
Be a fair few years before they become rare and valuable.

3.0s are next after the Ms.

Then 2.8s and 2.2s similar. Then 2.0s. Then 1.9s.

Most of the cars getting scrapped are 1.9s and there was a lot of them made. So it will be a long time before that has an impact.

3.0s and Ms there were so few made and being more valuable you rarely see them scrapped anyway.

2.8s and 2.2s do get frequently scrapped as well. But finger in the air you’ll see 4 or 5 1.9s scrapped for every six cylinder.

The whole Z3 market has dropped by up to 25% over the last couple of years. So the answer to your question is we are probably some way off of a scrapping impact.

That said I’m seeing more and breakers yards specialising in Z3s so the rate of breaking is accelerating. Some of these, from personal experience, are dispatching 1 or 2 every week.

Personally I won’t break a saveable 6 cylinder Z3.

As any classic car, all comes down to what you are prepared to pay (How much you want it) If you look at Parkers guide etc a low mileage 3.0 is only worth about 3-4 k at best according to the traders book, yet there's a couple on autotrader for sale at over 10k. A year or so ago They might have sold for that but prices have definetely dipped, as the same cars are coming up for sale again and again. and if there not selling for long periods there's only one reason, the price is too high.
