Hi, I'm John - Retired TV engineer,
I've had my 98 Z3 2.8 E36 under covers since Covid, I'm now trying to get it into a saleable condition,
I drained the tank and put new fuel in it, and I've installed a new battery,
The problem - It turns over fine, but it won't start on its own, but it will start with 'Quick Start' spray
Once going it seems to with a run just fine with a little throttle, without a little throttle it will tend to stop from tick over,
If it does stop we're back to square one, ie 'Quick Start' spray to get it started again
Internet seems to be suggesting Crank and/or Cam sensor???
I'd welcome any thoughts / suggestions

You need to get a code reader on to check either sensor.
Stick your location up, quite a few of us have them, probably someone local who can plug it in for you.
Thank you for the info - I'm in Kidderminster - anyone near?

Is this the device I need IainP? - I see it's available on Ebay

Anyone in or near to Kidderminster with a Code Reader with E36 adapter please?
I have a 1998 2.8i E36, cranks but won't start without using quick start spray
