Never the same since stanton closed. Every time I see a manhole cover with stanton on I think of all my relatives who worked there.

Yep, most manhole covers and iron pipes came from Stanton & Staveley or Clay Cross Ironworks in the first half of the 20th Century and you can still find yourself standing on one.

Interesting I started this thread about getting my wheels refurbished, now we come to DI products .

I must have written many orders out for manhole covers ( mainly MA60) over the years. Regarding pipes I always found Clay Cross a lot easier to deal with than Stantons --- I assume due to Stantons being nationalised via British Steel. I recall having a nightmare with them over an order for 1200mm pipes and bends. We eventually started using Fusion Coated steel pipes as an alternative, we could then get bends and fittings to our needs not being told "that's what we make". I will add the Concrete Pipe division was a lot better.

I am still looking to refurb my Z3 and X1 wheels.

With BMW now only offering X1 in Diesel , hybrid or 100% electric it looks like I will be keeping mine as I am not going over/back to Derv or electric

I compromised when I dropped from V8 ( RR ) to 6 pot on my first BMW (525d. 51 plated) I just wish my X1 was 6 not 4 pot,but the z3 still 6 pots

I accept I am a luddite

Many of the original fire hydrants in NYC were cast in a foundry at Rotherham. Just as a "by the way".
