So glad to hear you are home again at last mate. Get rested and some home cooking and you will hopefully regain your weight. Take care Alan.

I haven't been on the forum much lately so I did not know you were still under doctors orders. Congrats on the latest grandchild and best wishes for a full and speedy recovery.

Oh well being home was short lived.
This morning I was ill again. The infection markers in my blood have gone right up and I couldn’t stand. Readmitted to QA Hospital haven’t made a ward yet, I’m in the acute medical unit. The day has flown by. I lost the morning I was out of it. Hope my stay is shorter than 3 weeks this time.

I had a visit yesterday from a Vascular Surgeon, he painted a very black picture of what I have to face. Vascular Surgeons always look on the dark side and are very blunt in what they tell you. He told me I will very likely have to have a 6 hour operation to my lower abdomen, remove the existing artificial graft and replace it with a vein taken from my leg, physically clean out all the infection which is causing my current problems and put me back together again. This is all to take place at Southampton General Hospital, not ideal for a Pompey boy. Just have to wait and see if it happens. Trying to look on the bright side, family are very supportive.

Not what any of us would want for you Alan, life is definately not fair.
But you are relatively a young man and although the operation is a long and traumatic procedure your surgeon will be optimistic for a good outcome. With you strength and a loving family to help you post op. I expect to see you Zedding again in 2022.
Keep us all posted.
Best wishes
Tony and Jean.

Can only agree with Tony and Keith’s comments Alan. It looks as though they’ve found the root cause of your problem mate and that has to a good thing. How soon can they do the procedure? Get yourself well mate and then I can get you a beer at the Swan next September. All the very best from me and Shirl.

Tony.

No posts since August. How are you Alan?
Thanks for enquiring. I haven’t posted anything about medical things as I felt it was becoming a bit boring. But this is what has happened so far.
I underwent a 5 hour operation on 1st September. They removed the stent from my Aorta and repaired the original hole with a bovine patch. They stitched up a small hole in my upper bowel and physically cleaned the infection from my abdominal cavity, they told me they did this with a spoon!!!! I was on loads of intravenous antibiotics and was discharged on 10th September.
Feeling a lot better now no high temperatures and sickness, just don’t walk very well.
I had an appointment today with the Cardio Vascular Surgeon and he is very pleased with me and told me not to expect to be fully recovered for another four months.
Should be back on the road for next year
