Wheel nut caps. I decided to replace rear brake pads and I saw, to my horror that the caps of my wheel nuts were missing.

FROM EVERY TYRE. They had the decency to leave the cap on the locking nut though. So now I'm missing 12 caps and I'm absolutely furious.

@spurs fan in a coupe I don't suppose you have 12 caps that you can sell me at a decent price?

I had the same thing happen a couple of years ago Faheem, on my Z3 in my bloody works car park, they even nicked my posh valve caps as well.:rage::rage:

I don't understand why anyone would do that. They left my dust caps alone, I'd rather they took the dust caps to be completely honest. Why they would nick my wheel nut caps is beyond me. And why would they then have the courtesy to leave one on every tyre...:mad:

Hi. when I was changing wheels round on my car the other month there were only wheel nut caps on the locking nuts on mine and I just assumed it was supposed to be like that , only on the locking nuts :bashhead:

The one on the locking bolts is to stop corrosion of the locking bolt and ensure the locking bolt key fits securely. I have one off @Grumpy's car on my garage bench. They were probably nicked by some scrote with a car that has 17mm bolts and only 4 of them.

That's strange I have only ever had them on my locking nuts...
I've put some gloss black ones on now though

Funny. Until I saw this thread I never realized my (2000) Z3 is supposed to have lug nut bolt cap covers. I just ordered a set from Amazon.

Many BMW's never had bolts covers on the 4 plain ones just on the security bolt!

@Stevo7682 That's weird then, when I got my car last year it had all the caps on every nut and locking nut besides from one on one of the wheels.

My dad has an E36 and his had 20 caps too?

My Project Z has none. =(

A set of 4 are £3.60 new direct from BMW with postage. And as far as I am aware are only used on the locking wheel nut - the description here certainly suggests so.

Are those genuine? Mine are a little different from those, exactly the same shape and finish but on top mine have a BMW logo (in black, hardly visible).
