Scrub the belt idea as blue/green not in sequence. I'll go with the wiring of some sort.

I’m a structured cabling nerd I’m afraid. Well, lapsed on the Cat 5 these days.

My interest is fibre these days due to working in telecoms and helping bang out fibre to the home.

dont think there are plain colours in telephone cable, all cores are striped?
However wrong order is wrong order, so "nope"
Actually thinking about it now, you're right Pete. I'm going back to when I was a telephone engineer in the '80s, but yes they are all striped now.

You'll be pleased to know some elements of telecommunications from the 1980s survive even if the pair colours may have moved on. If you worked in exchanges you may remember things like AXE10 & UXD5s which are still out there! It's not all IP yet. But the Strowger & crossbar systems are long gone.
