Nc500.

Hi.we are thinking of doing the nc500 in September. And Di says she is sure a few z'ers have already navigated it.
We were wondering 'if starting at Inverness going clockwise is a good option .we are planning 5 days to drive Inverness to Inverness.thanks.

Done it last year and have the sat nav routes, though we did it anti clockwise (changed it to clockwise for your preference) and started from Edinburgh taking in Glenshee, Balmoral (A93) and then cairngorms to Inverness, then the 500 looping back to Inverness, fantastic run. You certainly wont need 5 days just to do the 500 though unless you intend stopping over a few times en-route.

I'd recommend the Tongue Hotel. That was a wild and crazy night. Over 30 years ago, so things may have changed since. Back before it was the NC500, just a cruise round the top of Scotland.

Sorry Paul missed this. We did the NC500 in May last year. We went anticlockwise from Inverness but rather than return to Inverness we stopped off on the The Isle of Skye for a bit. We did the trip over 11 days home to home to allow for stops for views, photos, coffee etc. and to make it more of a holiday rather than a thrash round. The only problem we had was in some areas there is very limited accommodation. Still a great trip though.
