It is quite an adventure. From our place the trip was 2550 miles this year. We had one night in France at a champagne vineyard where the owner was short of staff so he got our breakfast. Another night just through the Alps in the Aosta Valley in an out of season skiing hotel. A double room for €55 including breakfast with a free upgrade to a room with a mountain view from the balcony. So good we stayed there again on the way back and got upgraded to a room with a balcony big enough to hold a party on.
We came back over the St. Bernard Pass through torrential rain but still good fun
They would love to have more cars from England and I can vouch for their hospitality. All in I reckon it costs between £2500/£3000 including the tunnel, tolls, fuel, travel and breakdown insurance. It could be done cheaper and I would be happy to work together to keep costs down if anyone wants to come but I would draw the line at camping.
Next year I plan on visiting the Ferrari factory and museum in Modena on the way down and the Ducati factory and museum in Bologna on the way back.
Any takers?
Hmm just done 2 weeks driving to Florence and siena staying in some nice hotels 3500 miles and only spent around 3k, so agree could be done cheaper I think.

The middle weekend at the Rally makes it expensive. Two nights full board including any entrance fees on excursions is €235 per person, not cheap but the whole idea is to raise funds for the Andrea Boccelli Foundation and have some fun at the same time.

I have just done some fag packet calculations Nodzed and I reckon there will be no change from 3k for your trip. I have assumed a petrol Zed and no free accommodation at friends houses. B&B for 14 nights at a minimum of €90 pn is €1260, then 3500 miles at 35mpg is 100 gallons at around £6 a gallon comes to £600, pus getting over or under the channel £175, getting through or over the Alps at €45 each way is €90, then you need food and drink for the day after breakfast which can take at least another €60 per day which is €840. Just those items come to the thick end of £3000 even allowing for my mixed currency workings! Then you have travel insurance, breakdown insurance and probably quite a few tolls. It’s a dear hobby this touring.
