Over taken in a 50 limit, and I was doing 50, so he? was going some.
Man, how many times have I seen this? I am driving at the speed limit and there comes someone speeding like mad, overtaking in roads that are clearly too risky to do so.

I'm not going to say that I don't speed from time to time, but I normally choose the place and time...

Same thing yesterday Tony, I was doing about 50 mph as that was the limit, on a windy road with houses and farms dotted along it when an idiot in a Corsa came up behind like I was stood still. Swerved past and disappeared out of sight in an instance, must have been doing 70. Hate to imagine what would have happened if a tractor was pulling out for example. Crazy.

This was a local Pikey, seen the van loads of times always windows down (probably because they’re smoking weed). Before the 50 limit there is a 40 limit and on my rear facing camera it overtook 2 cars coming out of the village in the 40 limit before he got to me.
There are least 2 more clouds of soot up the road in front as it went past other vehicles too.

Tony.

See stuff like that all day long gent's. It will catch up with them, just hopefully doesn't catch up with some other poor innocent individual collected along the way 😞.

And, if not only for the people being put at risk unnecessarily, what is funny are the occasions when drivers will pass you by way above the speed limit, then you catch up to them a few minutes after stopped at the traffic lights. Yes, they are at the front of the queue, but?

Coming back from London last night I spent a long time stuck in a long queue past the Black Cat Roundabout. Two vans totalled, clearly due to excessive speed for the road.

But if you are a conservative MP doing 68mph in a 40 limit you get 6 month ban but a labour lord mayor can doing 78mph in a 40 mph limit you are not banned. So it seems you can behave according to party membership.

A few years ago I happily past a speed camera in Tremadoc at 40 mph not knowing the previous day it was dropped from 40mph to 30 mph. But this is Wales .I noted many times in England and Scotland altered speed limited's had big yellow squares around the new limit.

Don't think you can assign political affiliation to this @abh29, it's always different for certain people. Money, status, class etc. Us ordinary folk just get it dropped on us from a great height every time.

FACT. Labour allowed 78mph no ban. Conservative 68mph 6 month ban. They are not different people they are both senior political party members. Is that that not political. I dread to think what us ordinary folk would get driving at almost double the speed limit.

Yes, in that one case @abh29, but that does not mean a Labour politician is any more likely to escape lightly than a Conservative, Liberal or whatever.

Look, I've been caught on one of these speed limit changes twice: once when I was working in Swansea and another where I lived (High Wycombe). In both occasions there were no signs or indications of the change...

Also, it's not healthy to use a single data point to generalise that part affiliation (or for that matter colour or creed) affects the likely outcome of breaking the law. Otherwise we will end-up in the same fractured social divide seen in the USA today.

As a parting shot: no matter what the part affiliation is, people are people. We see examples of politicians of all colours getting away with behaviour that's considered unacceptable… But, we also see that happening with no consequences to Joe Schmucks— it all depends on the circumstances and how good one is at avoiding detection. Political affiliation need not apply as a factor.

Disclaimer: This is my opinion. Actual outcomes may vary. Yada, yada!

I frequently have some idiot overtake at the most inappropriate and dangerous places on the road. I think it’s for a number of reasons: they’re really bad drivers; drivers filled with ego; see an older car; female driver; and think “I’ll take this on!”
Sometimes, albeit infrequently. I think: “Right. I’ll show you” and pass them by as their frail little egos and inadequate cars appear as dots in my rear view mirror.
