In light of the current (pun intended) energy problems my mind turned to wondering how our elected government planned to generate all the extra electricity needed to power an entire nation dependant on electric cars. I'm no expert but as an educated guess allowing for population growth and the extra needed to power millions of electric vehicles it might be reasonable to assume we might need double the present output.
Then it dawned on me........ there will be no substantial increase in demand if the general public are not allowed personal transport in the "new normal" future. Unimaginable a couple of years ago but not that much of a leap from what has passed recently. Did you ever imagine being confined to your own home by Government order, allowed out once a day for exercise provided you stay local? The general public in favour of even tighter restrictions on their own freedoms?
We have a movement in this country, driven by the greens and welcomed by our politicians that will bankrupt us and put us back 100 years in pursuit of a zero carbon target that will have no discernable effect on the environment while China, India, Japan, Korea and most other major industrial countries plough on regardless.
Enjoy your cars and the right to drive them while you still can.

Yep Tony its all going T**s up. Tonight some so called scientists has said by 2030 Donny will be a seaside town and by 2050 we will be under water so perhaps we should all be buying amphibious vehicles powered by Hydrogen or solar power. In the mean time i have made it to the pub tonight after feeling crap for a week and the Zed is taxed and insured waiting for a good run out.
We have done what we can for our kids so lets just enjoy our retirement we have earned it

Imagine, for a moment, that cars had not been invented yet.

And imagine that today in 2021 somebody invented the car and said we could all have one. A ton of steel that we control and steer ourselves down crowded streets lined with pedestrians.

They would never be allowed.

Health and safety doesn't even allow powered skateboards or those segway things in public places.

The only reason cars are allowed now is because our economy has evolved with, and is dependent on, the car.

If it was possible to ban cars without affecting the economy then they would do it.

"They" would never shut down the countries economy and pay people to stay at home for months costing us billions either.
But they did for a virus with a 97% recovery rate.
I may have that wrong, I think the recovery rate is 99.6%.
