In light of the current (pun intended) energy problems my mind turned to wondering how our elected government planned to generate all the extra electricity needed to power an entire nation dependant on electric cars. I'm no expert but as an educated guess allowing for population growth and the extra needed to power millions of electric vehicles it might be reasonable to assume we might need double the present output.
Then it dawned on me........ there will be no substantial increase in demand if the general public are not allowed personal transport in the "new normal" future. Unimaginable a couple of years ago but not that much of a leap from what has passed recently. Did you ever imagine being confined to your own home by Government order, allowed out once a day for exercise provided you stay local? The general public in favour of even tighter restrictions on their own freedoms?
We have a movement in this country, driven by the greens and welcomed by our politicians that will bankrupt us and put us back 100 years in pursuit of a zero carbon target that will have no discernable effect on the environment while China, India, Japan, Korea and most other major industrial countries plough on regardless.
Enjoy your cars and the right to drive them while you still can.
