Thanks Jim, I have used the MOT tool before but I didn’t know about the previous sale bit. It’s handy that coz you can see how long someone has had the car,
It is handy, but a private plate change will also show as a new v5 issued so that isn’t always that accurate👍🏼

Hi Folks,

The car has not been sold, she is currently tucked up nice & warm for the winter. I spoke to the indie dealer who sold the car to me back in 2019 ( I have bought 6 cars of various types from him over a period of time, so know and trust him) and he has advised me not to sell it unless necessary as the value of this car will only increase due to the condition of the car.

So, I am still in two minds as to what to do with her.

Very difficult decision - I am in a similar position to you having just acquired an E89. Can only see the value of the pre-facelift cars increasing but to be honest I didn't buy mine as an investment and believe they should be used. Hence if I do sell I'm keen for it to stay on the forum so I can follow its progress - let's be honest looked after properly these things will go on forever.

Agreed,

We have another Z, this time a 2009 E89 2.5i with just 22k miles on the clock, so this is our 'fun' car and will be used a lot. The Z3 will probably do less than 1k miles per annum in reality, more like 500 or less. I think I drove it 5 times in 2020...

Hence why I am in two minds as to what to do with it. I don't need the car, just not sure I want to part with it🤔

If somebody makes an offer that is acceptable I might sell it.👍

You can do a vehicle check on the dvla site and it will tell you if a car is taxed and motd..at the bottom it tells you when a log book was last issued...

Realise its not relevant in this case, but not exactly accurate for info of the sale/ownership length of a vehicle, if you put on or take off a private plate, move house, lose the V5 a new V5 is issued and will show the date of change of the V5 not necessarily a change of owner.

In the same position. Have the e89 that gets used a lot for various reasons, and a Z3 that seldom leaves the garage, but I don't want to part with it.

Looks like an ideal investment at the right price for someone with space, but if too many miles are added then collectors are put off irrespective of condition. Very nice motor.

Correct, the car has had 2 plates since I bought it, the personal plate in one of the images was changed in Feb when we bought my wife's E89. The Z3 was given its original reg number back.
