My Z3 hood is kinda OK but the usual repairs have been done in the past to a couple of corners of the rear window and the fabric, while generally OK, shows signs of wear in places and is a very dark grey rather than midnignt black as I would like. I have tried Renovo on this and other previous cabriolets and have always been disappointed. It is sold as a renovator as are most other similar products and I think what I need is a real canvas dye to get the black intensity of colour back into the fabric. Does anyone know of a strong canvas dye that would do the job? I have searched on the internet and found 2 or 3 canvas dye products being sold by furniture restorers in UK - Scratch doctor, Furniture Clinic and another but none of them will send their products to France (where I live) because of Brexit and the extra taxes/hassle now involved. If anyone knows of such a product - available in France - I would very much like to hear about it rather than have to wait until my next UK trip to pick something up.

I've not used the product or the company, but they will ship to France via ebay shipping program. If you input your postcode it will give you the shipping and import costs. Strange, as I thought all personal imports between the UK and EU were tax and import duty free if under 150€.

Will be interested in what you use, procedure and results. My hood is in good condition material wise, but is fading to more dark grey than black.
Was going to dye it a few years ago but got cold feet when I read on another forum, that you can end up with a stripe or blotch effect if there is still residual protectant in the fabric.

I share your concern jonco and have not heard of the product spotted by hard hat. I agree it sounds risky but my cost/benefit analysis on getting a new hood fitted is not yet very persuasive!!
