Got the car back -- new noise from the rear..

Just got the car back after a respray/change panels etc etc -- but there's a new noise from the rear (it seems) -- when I'm coasting, either Idle or in neutral.. It also happens when in drive but only at certain speed; best way to hear it is to just drive of an push the clutch in...

Any idea what might be wrong? Wells not put on properly? Somethign worse?

I'm going to start by re-setting the whells and see if it makes a difference, but if anyone has an idea...?

I don't /think/ it can be the diff -- it's been welded 'properly' last year and it wasn't bad to start with...

Has it been sitting around for long with the handbrake on? These things can suffer from a bit of corrosion in the drums, try pulling the handbrake lever up a bit while coasting downhill, see if that makes a difference.

Weeeeel after a bit of head scratching, just because I thought it was the first thing to check, I went with my torque bar and checked the wheels -- turns out ALL the bolts were under torqued, some of them completely loose, and the rear-left didn't have a single bold tight. Thus the noise.

To be fair I used the tool, electric impact thing, and thought it was a bit wierd to used compared to my pneumatic one, and, I didn't; have a torque bar at the time. I can't explain how they could have been SO bad since the tool "stuttered" rather satisfyingly when being used. Anyway, panic over, apart from driving a few miles with a loose wheel!

It would have been no joke if a wheel or wheels had zoomed off at speed: glad you discovered the issue. Begs the question: who last took off the wheels?
