Hi all,

Went out in the Zed at the weekend (sunny sunday in herts) and noticed when I got home that the fuel gauge had stopped working, definitely hadn't used the lead foot that much!
Can anyone advise where to start looking to fix this?

Thanks all

Was it just the fuel gauge or the speedo and rev counter as well? We lost all of them 2 weeks ago after filling up with petrol.
Having checked other posts advice was it could just be a blip and sure enough the experts were right, everything back to normal next day and ok since.
Other post suggest fuses to check.

There are several possible faults. As BUZBY suggested you should check the fuses as well as the connectors on the back of your speedometer first.

I had a similar problem and it turned out that the tank ventilation valve was clogged causing a vacuum in the tank which destroyed the circuit board on the fuel pump. You'll notice if there's a vacuum in your tank once you open the fuel filler cap, if so you should hear a hissing sound which is noticeably louder than usual.
Once I removed the fuel pump the broken pieces were visible at the bottom of the tank.

That's the worst case of course, sometimes the float arm on the fuel pump can get stuck as the plastic wears over time allowing the arm to flop around and come into contact with the inside of the fuel tank.

Regards
Dominik
