Keep getting a code for bank two lean, so I bought myself a cheap smoke machine from Amazon not hoping for much. Can’t be the intake trunking as I only replaced it last year I thought….
So much for that then!
When I fitted the new one I’ll look for more as I can’t see that affecting only bank two?

The rich/lean DTCs are threshold based. It could be that both banks are very lean but only one is above the threshold. Fix what’s in front of you and re-assess afterwards.

great kit these smoke machines, I did make one but upgraded to one off ebay, works very well.
 
Yes, I took the airbox and MAF off and sealed the smoke tube into the intake with a microfibre.
 
Could you not just remove the filter and seal the smoke tube there? Sorry if being dim!

When mine split I was getting misfire codes on random cylinders and the engine would 'cough' several times when cold. I presume because the air through the split is unmetered and random the MAF and injection system haven't got a clue what's going on so can do random things which cause random faults.

I know what you mean. I spent a morning replacing my intake boot and tank vent solenoid. Took it down the road to test it; 100 yards from home the dash lit up with DSC and ABS lights. Turns out a wheel speed sensor chose that very moment to go AWOL. Back on the phone with a still warm credit card in my hand!
