Chocolate is flying off shops' shelves; people are depressed and are seeking comfort in a sweet treat.

Supermarkets round here look like they have been ram raided, when it comes to loo roll as far as I know you don't use any more if you catch the flu. If anything you lose your appetite so you should use less. thank god I still had my Brexit stockpile =))=))

Miss Sandi is a "plan for the worst, hope for the best" type. For severai years she has s been making sure we are stocked with canned goods, beans, pasta, paper goods, and cleaning supplies. As a result we are in good shape for some time should we need to self-quarantine. We also have plenty of vitamins and other medical needs. Seemed a bit over the top at the time, but now I'm pleased she did.

That's the way we were brought up Tom, being country folk you always has reserves of things in the pantry for emergencies.

I did my 3-monthly at Hyperama about three weeks ago and my neighbour was laughing at the two 48 packs that I bought. He said that he would know where to come if he needed any bog roll. He thought he was joking :ymdevil: .

It's chaos round here. Started with toilet paper and pasta last week, but has now escalated to anything and everything that's edible, or remotely to do with personal hygeine. There's a real irony here that the terminally stupid haven't realised - now that the government has introduced social distancing measures, the most likely way to become infected with Covid 19 is from fighting with a hundred other people over the last pack of bog rolls or loaf of bread in the supermarket.

Another thought has occurred. Can you imagine the waste when all the fresh food that the panic struck have bought reaches it's best before date? Madness. All brought about by the media imo.....

People are buying the wrong things in a way. Yes. OK buy the dried foods, pasta etc. but put that in the cupboard and eat the fresh food for as long as you can get it. AND, after this dies down, buy some tinned foods like Spag Boll, beans and sausage, soup et al, Yes it's not the healthiest of foods but it beats going hungry, it keeps for years, and it goes well on toast.

Tony.

ps. All day breakfast in a can is good too.

Stupidity rules at the moment.
I went to my local Coop yesterday and was talking to the three assistants there about there being 10,000 soldiers placed on reserve to help with emergency services, food supplies, civil unrest etc. when one asked me: “what’s civil unrest?” To which I replied: “ You work in a shop. You’ll soon find out”. I ask you: are some people plain stupid or simply ignorant?

I have thought of that as well. Must stay away from large crowds, so let 's run down to the supermarket with hundreds of others so we can stock up and avoid large crowds... o_O and I assume people will be eating lots of toast and sandwiches so all that bread they bought won't go stale or moldy...

With all of this food buying, the big supermarkets etc, must be seeing their profits go through the roof?
So if you make or manufacture food, your company must be on overtime.

I left my previous employer in January and only a fortnight ago started to think about getting a job, apparently I was successful with two applications, unfortunately both have withdrawn the job offers and closed for an indeterminate length of time as both are in the hotel \ hospitality industry. This is the first time I have had no job in 37 years since leaving school. I therefor think the collapse of society may be down to me =))=)) Also I walked past some loo roll this morning in a shop and resisted the erge to buy some. It was tempting but I already have plenty. The trouble is panic buying is catching.
