I was replacing fog light bulbs and I noticed that molded into the plastic headlamp covers are the proper bulb types. HB4 for the low beam and HB3 for the high beam. Clever! Look in the lower right and left hand corners of the images below...

Most modern headlight are stamped in similar way somewhere .
