Well what a bloody fantastic trip Jan and I have just had with Pauline & Dave to Lake Garda, stopping in France on the way, the same night that France beat Crotia in the world cup they went mental I have never witnessed scenes like it they are mad you know, left France to drive to the Swiss Alps and our hotel for two nights our base to drive the main passes OMG what vista's another one ticked off the bucket list, on the way to Italy we stopped for a light lunch the temperature was around 34ish car was locked on the fob? when we decided to continue the journey me thinking just use the fob to unlock as usual :woot: wrong I could not use the fob to unlock it the alarm was active and when I tried to unlock with the key all hell broke loose, the cars alarm was jammed on, I tried pulling fuses to no avail everyone in France was thinking stupid English =)) I even spoke to the Zed shed Guru (Lee) all his tips tried but to no avail, eventualy Dave and I had decided to drive her with the alarm cycle going off lucky for me I had the alarm key to turn off the siren  after about 15 mins it had stopped the cycle hooray, so carried on to our hotel at Lake Garda now only using the key to lock/unlock
we are now back home and can lock the car up with either set of fob/keys and unlock so the conclusion is the car was cooking in the sun and that the heat had some how altered the settings, so it would have not mattered what we tried, it would not have worked so guys beware when parking in the sun DON'T and only use the key.
Oh some pic's to enjoy I hope.

Looks like a great trip… just about to do something similar however in a Peugeot 2008. Rather be doing it in a Zed but can’t carry the wife’s luggage:whistle:

Have done same/very similar trip together with a wife's luggage problem - get the right boot cases and hang suit bags behind seats and it's amazing how much you can fit in. Only problem is you have to send her ball gowns ahead by separate courier;) it's a brilliant drive through the Alps you have to do it in the Zed.

The next part of the problem could be that my Zed is back in Australia
HaHa - never noticed the address - courier the Zed over then;)

Thanks Bazza. It is certainly on my list. How long did you go for? It's the kind of trip that I would love to do over the next couple of years and just curious how much time I would need.

Must have had some great visuals. Glad you had a great time. Tip re the alarm I’ve had this happen where it desynced from my fob. If you have your manuals you should have a small yellow envope inside you will find a code and in your alarm manual it gives you instructions on how to input the code.

Yes, brilliant trip:thumbsup:even with Zeldas slight misbehaviour. A great 2 week Euro trip going through France, Switzerland and Italy.
After stopping in Ashford on Sunday we took an early (for us retirees) Monday morning tunnel across to France and made good time to stay by the lake at Gérardmer, in the Grand Ballon. A rest day mooching around and then the next day off to our hotel in Switzerland via the Susten & Grimsel Passes on the way. The next day was a trip around the Furka, Gothard and Nufenen passes. Then it was off to Lake Garda in Italy for a week. We came back in three days staying in Pontarlier and Boulogne.
Some stats for anyone thinking of a Euro trip. Total mileage we covered 2,268 (mostly top down), used 294 litres of fuel (64.6 gallons for us oldies) and averaged 35.1 MPG.
Lowest fuel cost 1.51 Euro/litre, most expensive 1.96 Euro/litre (splash & dash at that price).
I'll sort some pics out later but they'll be similar to Barry's.
