I have a feeling that it will also sell for decent money, nearer 3k

I've thought about it. But a) I haven't got the money until I sell one of my 2.2s b) It's possible the bidding will push towards £3k as it's potentially ideal for a kit conversion.

I'd swallow any issue with it at £2k. I'd be well cheesed off at £3k.

I've got a sneaky feeling it might have been rodent infested too which wouldn't help. There was some iffy looking material on the inlet manifold. But I'm no pest expert so maybe that's a red herring.

Anyhow, I contacted the seller as soon as it went up. But he was unhelpful and didn't reply to my follow-up message. I just can't be ar*ed with people like that.

Just been to view this car, bit of a strange one o_O

No record of VIN number or Reg from BMW, no record of any services at UK dealers, apparently the old owner has a service book but no interest in finding it

Door lock barrel has been turned round, not sure if it's broken or what but seemed odd, and very stiff door handle

Few random parts missing like a bumper reflector and interior clock

Looooots of cobwebs and crap all over it as you'd expect

If it has actually only done 50,000 miles it's had a hard life!

Bodywork as you can see in the pictures is bad, big dents on a few panels, scraped bumper, 2 aerials(?), sills looked rust free but I didn't look underneath as I'd already lost interest :(

I can do bodywork and repair most things but I'm not even tempted after viewing

Be very careful if anyone is thinking of bidding for it

How did you check the VIN? It comes up in BMW VIN for me. The reg is partially recognised on BMW Warranty - which annoyingly no longer gives you the chassis number. It returns the first registration date then bombs out.

And how did you check the service record or do you just mean no paper proof?

I work for a dealer so can check for any documented service history, which it didn't have, so I rang BMW uk to check and they have no record either

The VIN works for the parts catalogue but not on our internal system which usually indicates it's an import, but then it would usually say it's an import, which it doesn't, strange

Oh I see. Excellent access then. What a weird one.

I've bought several cars in the past from squaddies who bought them in Germany tax free UK spec, then brought them over here.

At least two of them didn't show as imports on Hpi which I thought was strange at the time.

Don't walk away from this one........run.
Everything about it says money pit. At this time of year there are nice ones out there that will be much cheaper for much less effort.

This is a likely explanation. Perhaps the owner was in the army and sadly killed in action?

And the car was just left, as often happens in these situations.

I have a customer whose daughter died, and her car was left on the drive for years by her mum.

Any Z3 is a good Z3 at the right money, in the right hands.

On that basis if someone picks this up for £2k they'll be laughing.

They won't be if they know nothing about Z3s and/or spend more like the £3k it's likely to go for.

I was just looking at it and I'm beginning to think that it may be worth a bid but it will probably shoot up in the dying minute.

I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole, in the last pic it looks like the VIN plate has been tampered with.
