My s***'s custom!
Not Zed related but this may ease the boredom of the lockdown for a bit...

Some of you know what I do for a living but for those who don’t, I’m part of a specialist team within Derbyshire Constabulary tackling county lines class A drug dealing and other serious crime (firearms, serious violence and murder etc).

We were followed by a TV crew last year (along with other departments in the force) and a 4 part series has been put together by Channel 5 showing what goes on within the organisation.

If you’re interested to see how it works from a cop’s eye view then the series airs at 9pm this Monday (4th May) and my team are in 3 of the 4 episodes. It’s called “Police hour of duty”.

I’ve seen the draft edits as I had to advise on stuff that couldn’t be shown (data protection and collateral intrusion etc) so unless I’m on the cutting room floor I get a bit of screen time!

I watch these things from time to time, they're a good indicator of how the fevela and Social Underclass of society operate. Fortunately most of us never see it.

Hope you fair better than when they came to us a few years ago.

Thanks to the powers that be, shall we say being a little naive at the least and giving them full access and editorial control. They weren't happy with the outcome. Which, in all fairness was pretty close to how it was, 80% of those featured were subject of disciplinary action in some form.

Keeping well away from the cameras turned out to be one of my better career decisions. ;)

We kept an element of control when they came to us. They were exposed to the covert nature of what we do so we had the final say on what they could include. They saw some of our tactics I order to film the “climax” but they weren’t allowed to show most of it. I had to have them take out loads of footage regarding mobile phone analysis and just what we can do with them in order to protect our tactics. It was a case of “you can come with us and we’ll take you to the best stuff...but we choose what you can show of it”. I don’t know if the other teams had the same agreement but for us it was a case of signing up to our terms or they don’t get near us or what we do. It worked out for them as I took them on three drugs jobs, one of which was an armed deployment which they found very exciting! I’ve seen the episodes already and signed off on them so we’re good:thumbsup:

Love those programmes, and I’ve a huge admiration (and gratitude) for all officers who risk their lives to protect us daily, often for their whole working life.

Think that's where our lot slipped up. Gave the production company free reign and as far as I understand were told "tough" when they said they weren't happy. Plus Channel 4 have got way better lawyers.

Did manage to get my face pixelated in one bit, so you know you've made it when you get pixelated on TV

Should be a good watch. The last thing you want to do is give the nefarious members of our society is any insight into what can be done in terms of analysis and surveillance of their activities. Shame they never get what the really deserve when it gets to court though.
Regularly speak to one local retired ex-force guy. Always some funny stories amongst the stories of crime. Must help doing the job.

I regularly get my face pixelated - that's not to protect my face, but to protect the more sensitive amongst the general public. =))

Glad you chaps are out there doing a very difficult job @Mac Romans. We watch some of those shows and love to see the bad guys get the bracelets slipped on! We used to live next door to one of your chaps who did the firearm training.
