I have a 1999 Z3 M52TUB25 with a 5 sp manual. Among many other less important things, I need a new illumination ring for the cigarette lighter, #10 in the first diagram below and the part number 51168222181 superseded by 51162493684 (01/02/1997 — 03/15/2019), Exchangeable retrospectively. When I look up either part number, I get a clear illumination ring while the broken one on my car is orange. I see other illumination rings that are orange for 318i and such but no Z3 fitment. I also have a twin set of wires with a bulb in the end under the lighter which I guess should somehow illuminate the ring. Lastly I included a picture of my illumination ring. So the questions:

- Does anyone have the proper part number for the orange illumination ring for my car?
- How does the bulb illuminate the ring if it is not somehow attached? I have seen rings like these for other cars that have molded on to the side a socket for the filament end of the bulb.
