For reference. There is an ABS part K19995 and K19994 (approx 30mm shorter). Looking on realoem it would seem the 1.9 pre-facelift has a different cable than the facelift and pre-facelift 2.8. This would make some sense I guess given the 1.9 pre-facelift has different trailing arms. So K19995...

In my experience that style of gear knob on a Z3 is always illuminated. On UK builds anyway.

If it's on a facelift that's not the correct loom side connector. The connector is much more slim line than that. It's the same type as plugs into the heater panel or ashtray for illumination. I would expect the connector to be there but as it was unused from the factory it's possibly tucked...

Are you thinking the exhaust goes with the engine rather than the car? Obviously the B25 was used in other BMWs in U.K. But not Z3 as Lee says. The exhaust is custom to the car not engine. And does vary between 6 cylinder Z3s as well. Hope that helps and I’m not barking up wrong tree with question.

Did you make a note of the existing codes before clearing? You've not necessarily picked up the root error of the breakdown issue here from telling us faults after clearing codes. I'm not great on generic codes. BMW codes will be much better known on here but will require a specific reader...
