It's due back in to Iridium in a couple of weeks. Ant and i changed out the other cam sensor last night as well as replacing the top solenoid which was getting very hot (solenoid or engine oil?). Still has the clicking from the Vanos(?) until warm and the very rough idle. I think the problem is...

The fan shroud on my 1999 2.8 was accidentally damaged but fair play the garage ordered a new one from BMW. Prior to fitting @AntStark and I checked the OEM number on the old v the new. Identical. New shroud to large, doesn’t fit. See photos. Anyone else had this issue or know why?

For starters the new Febi one is probably knackered as it gets very very hot. Back to the drawing board

Whether it is cam sensor or the other solenoid, I need @AntStark on the case with me.

The exhaust side solenoid is blisteringly hot after the car has been driven. Switched out the inlet side cam sensor but not the exhaust side.

and the erratic idle is now taking longer to settle. Once at operating temp car idles normally

Hi @Lee removed it last year for me.

Each time the revs recover during the cold start you can hear the car suck in a load of air like someone breathing. (Down below the DISA)

I only know someone with 2.2 and a 3.0.

Hi. Usual problem…..26 years old and a little stiff

Car went to a local garage with ex BMW mechanic. Nuts reinstated. Car hardly played up. But literally nothing showed up as being a problem and he loved the drive (apart from throttle cable). He is adamant it should have a genuine MAF.

I think I will stick the car on Autotrader for £1500
