    Different flex disc/donut/giubo bolt sizes

Ordered a replacement flex disc from autodoc and what has turned up is the wrong size. Mine has 12mm bolts whereas this one has only 10mm. Can't see any other discussion on the forum of different size ones being available. Does anyone know the part number for one with the M12 bolts? Or are...

    e46 diff internals swap?

For my next EV-swap project I'm probably going to need a taller diff than the default (3.43? Whatever is in a 1.9 auto from Japan). Obviously there are the taller options from the 2.8/3.0, but they are like hen's teeth and super pricey. e46 diffs though are very cheap. So, would e46 internals...

Sounded good pulling away from the lights in Burnage this morning.

    Rebody Door adjustments Z300S

I have a very tight fit on my doors at the moment around both sides. Fairly easy to adjust the winglets and take material off the bonnet if needed but less easy at the back. How have other people dealt with this? I can obviously unbolt the hinges and try to shuffle them forward. Is this advisable?

    Rebody Boot catch options

Fitting the boot catch to my Z300S and have run into a couple of issues. First, the bolt holes don't line up with the captive nuts. That's easily addressed by slotting the holes but seems weird as everything else lines up? Second, the microswitch on the top of the catch unit fouls the skin of...

    Window swap Vs hood swap

My (already cracked) rear window succumbed to the cold this morning and now needs replacing rather more urgently. It's a zipout one, so I could replace that, but have heard it can be a bit of a sod. Alternatively, I have a spare good hood with a decent window. What's the easier swap? Window or...

For Sale Breaking Z3 2.0 Boston Green 1999

Having to scrap one of my Z3s because the sills are so completely rotten. But the body panels are in excellent condition (except the sill covers). Will post photos and paint code when I get a chance but thought I'd get this out there while bored in a cab. Panels are all at my garage in East...

    For Sale 2.0 Z3 engine

The six pot out of my second Z3 EV conversion is up for sale if anyone's after a motor. Not getting many bites yet on eBay so open to cheeky offers from Z members. All the obvious ancillaries available as well...

Electric folding mirrors on a Z3?

Has anyone tried to fit electrically folding mirrors to a Z3? I'm going with a resto-mod (or maybe retro-futuristic?) style for my Z300S build and quite fancy fitting some electrically folding mirrors. Wondered if anyone had done it before?

    Project EVGT

I enjoyed my first (ongoing) electric Z3 project so much, I'm starting a new one. Plan is to do another Tribute Automotive kit once I've completed the EV conversion, but first I'll get this Z electrified. Going for a different, more powerful powertrain this time, out of a Lexus IS300h. But...

Garage space for rent - Manchester, UK

If you've been following my progress thread you'll know that I've been trying to find some garage space in Manchester for over a year. I've now found some and - assuming all goes to plan this week - should actually have a little more than I need. If you're in or around Manchester and need some...

    Dismantling heater controls

Has anyone come across a guide to take the heater controls apart? I need to modify mine to swap the temperature control for a pot in my EV conversion. I can find lots of guides to other bits of the heating but no guides as to how to actually take the controls apart. May end up being brute...

    Garage share in South Manchester

Hello all, I've been trying to find a garage to rent near me for over a year now with no luck. So I've decided to bite the bullet and try to find people who might want to share an industrial unit in the South Manchester (UK) area. Details here if you're interested...

    Wanted Used Z3 clutch

Long shot but does anyone have a used Z3 clutch? I need the centre to make up a new coupler for my electric project (https://zroadster.org/threads/z3-00s-ev-project.37379/). I'm in Manchester (UK) so can collect if nearby or will happily pay postage plus a bit if you need to ship it. Garages...

Z3 EV wiring help: instruments and ignition

Would appreciate your help on a couple of things. Wiring up my EV now (see project thread for updates) and trying to find out: - Is there a signal line that runs from the ignition switch to the DME, or to the area where it is located? There must be, right? But so far me and my multimeter...

    Wanted Broken DME unit

Long shot but does anyone have a broken or otherwise unwanted DME unit for the Z3 1.9L M44 engine? Want to salvage the connectors from it for my EV project but don't want to butcher my own if I can sell it with the engine. I'm in Manchester, UK. EDIT: for clarity I have the Bosch unit with the...

For Sale '99 Z3 1.9 engine and ancillaries

I'll be removing the engine from my '99 Z3 next week if all goes to plan, in order to replace it with an electric motor. I need to keep the transmission, clutch and flywheel but the rest is going spare. Happy to sell it all as a unit or break if there is demand. Probably going to throw it up on...

Getting diagnostic data from serial cable

I would really like to be able to pull diagnostic information from the car into an onboard computer without having to plug an external device in or use software like INPA. Has anyone tried reading the output from the 20 pin connector into something like an Arduino using one of the serial...

    Z3(00S) - EV project

Following on from my intro (https://zroadster.org/threads/trigger-warning-ev-and-body-conversion.37361/) someone (thanks Stephen) suggested I post a progress thread here about my EV conversion and eventually, body conversion of a Z3. So, brief recap: my daughter and I have bought a high mileage...

Trigger warning: EV and body conversion

Putting on my helmet before I introduce myself here because of what we (me and my daughter) are planning: first of all an electric Z3, then ultimately a Z300s body conversion. Realise this will be tantamount to blasphemy for some, so sorry! Long-time BMW fan (E36 first, later E39 - still one of...
