2006 z4 e85 roof struggles to close but opens fine ....i have to get someone to lift the roof to get it started to close So had a think & reversed the 2 pairs of hydraulic lines & also reversed the L & N now roof closes as it should & slow to start to open but not a problem as i can help it...

do you mean the noise is from the unlatch motor in the bulkhead above the windscreen ?

water ingress into motor is a common fault lots of advice on this sight all you will want to know lots; of write ups will explain all better than i can ....do not worry easy fix.

whatever you do DO NOT put it back in the well it called a well because it get full of water & will fail, see the excellent write ups it will go behind the side panel & not bee seen or encroach on boot space.

got to agree with nodzed g/box oil change makes a great difference even if its not the cause of your problem you a slicker gear change at not much cost or trouble....as you are at it change the dif oil to ..ignore filled for life.
