I suspect I might have to replace one or more. I want to individually test them on the bench using a meter on Ohm setting, but can't find on YouTube which pins to test on a Z3.
It's done over 100000 on original coilpacks, so probably worth replacing the lot. Any ideas on good aftermarket ones.
My soft top rear window needs replacement. I have watched it done on You Tube. It simply unzips and the new one zips in (with a bit of funny business around the zip pull that wasn't explained very well) Has any one sourced a good one they could recommend. I've looked at some online that look...
I turned the "T bar" on the pump to disable it. Thanks for the tip. When I put it down it goes down almost on its own, just a slight push and it goes right down.
Putting it up again you have to pull it quite firmly, but no problem.
Great thanks. This weather the top has to come down! I will look into why the electrics are not working, but at least I can do it manually, which isn't a problem on a small soft top like this. On my old Triumph Spitfire it was a piece of cake doing it manually. Why add complication and weight to...
I am having difficulties with its operation. Mostly it just won't close. After many tries it usualy does in the end. Occasionally it won't open.
Once the motor starts it works faultlessley. I think its probably to do with microswitchs.
Does any one know how to strip it down to get to them ...
I repainted mine, but now it is peeling up. I tried using high temperature cylinder head black, that I used to use on an old motorbike. Obviously that failed. I know I should have used a plastic primer first. I have heard of people using caliper paint on these. I wondered about plastic bumper...
According to the Owners Manual I should be using a 0w - x / 5w-x . I don't understand
this code. I'm assuming the x relates to an unknown and it refers to a range of oils.
What make and would you recommend for a synthetic oil for a 2.8 Z3 ?
My soft top has again stopped working. The first time I had this problem not long ago, it was the brake switch. I replaced it and all was well. Recently it hasn't always immediately opened when I operate the switch to open it. It always closes fine and the motor sounds normal. Now it won't open...
I just Googled "how to test a relay" and found a good "talk you through" on You Tube from "Ratchets and Wrenches" so I have some testing to do tomorrow.
Coincidence that you suggested that. I Googled the problem today and found that that can be a problem with bad contact. He said the tallest relay in the fusebox is the relay for the indicators (not marked inside the lid what relay is what). I took it out sprayed with contact spray and put it...
The indicator on the left hand side runs at twice speed. I replaced bulbs, checked and cleaned up earths with contact spray. They flash, but at twice speed.
